The P.R.O Matt Plus from Joerns provides you a unique option of having a non-powered air/foam support surface or an alternating pressure air therapy system in a single mattress. The P.R.O (Pressure Relief Optimization) air control technology needs no adjustments or manual inflation devices and only requires the optional ES2 controller for conversion. The P.R.O. technology valve assures that optimal pressure is maintained in four therapy zones (head, shoulder, torso and foot) regardless of the user's weight and profile. An air/foam surface is created by using a standard controller with 10 minute static and alternate cycle times. A nylon therapy pad/cover is standard on the P.R.O. Matt Plus and provides a waterproof, low friction surface that is easily maintained and cleaned.

What Makes This Different
This mattress has two different functionalities that can assist with early stage levels of pressure ulcers and skin breakdown. The alternating pressure system requires the inclusion of a specialized, optional control and external hoses that attach to the mattress. This creates a four zone system with an inner air core that creates the pressure profile of a low air loss mattress. To use as a therapeutic air/foam system, simply disconnect the external hoses  and the control unit to have a static sleep surface.

Why We Like It
The P.R.O Matt Plus was designed with the user's safety and comfort as a high priority. A one inch viscoelastic topper helps with the pressure redistribution. The entire surface is surrounded by a firm perimeter which provides stability and a set boundary that decreases gaps between side rails and bed frames. There is also a choice between two different types of covers, Nylon and Stretch (only available in 36" W models) which assures that the mattress provides minimal shearing and optimal skin protection.

What You Need to Know When Ordering
To use the P.R.O. Matt Plus system as an alternate pressure therapy unit, you must purchase the ES2 Control Unit. This unit has three modes of operation: Autofirm, Alternating and Therapy.  The standard CBC control has two modes of operation: Alternate and Static. 
 

The P.R.O. Matt Plus with ES2 pump ships in two containers, 1 for the surface and 1 of the pump.  The surface ships in full length box – It cannot be folded.  The ES2 must be connected to a power source within 8 ft of the bed and the hose set must be connected to the entry ports on the mattress. 

The initial setup requires the pump be setup (when used) for comfort setting for the individual patient. If there is a pump included there should be some Physician or Clinician orders directing the use of therapy (Alternating or Constant and cycle times).
